Dollie B. Merryman

Dollie B. Merryman, 91, of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at a local care facility surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of Siouxland.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dollie was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on April 3, 1926, the daughter of Sylvester and Anna (Schafer) Sandage. She attended Sioux City Community Schools. On Feb. 3, 1944, she was united in marriage with Clayton “Spud” Merryman in Sioux City. Mr. Merryman preceded her in death on May 11, 1991, in Sioux City.
She worked at Aalfs Manufacturing for more than 33 years retiring in 1989. She then worked for five years at Professional Alterations.
Dollie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She liked to sew, crochet, read, do baking for her family and friends as well as working in her garden taking excellent care of her plants and flowers. She loved the wonderful times she could spend with all of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Coulter of Sioux City; her sons, Rodger Merryman and his wife, Vicky of Sioux City, and Farrel Merryman of Sioux City. Dollie is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Mahnke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Vester Sandage; sisters, Grace Mayfield and Phyllis Pelletier; and son-in-law, Ronald “Red” Coulter.
