Dolly L Sherrill, 84, lifelong resident of Sioux City, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Free Church, 401 9th St., in Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City. Dolly was born on Monday, Aug. 7, 1933, in Sioux City, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel (Harrison) Coyle. She grew up and attended Sioux City Public Schools and Central High School.
Dolly married Orval Sherrill in Elk Point, S.D. in 1977. She was employed with Johnson Biscuit later becoming Interbake Foods for more than 40 years, working as a feeder's helper on the devil's food production line.
She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church. She also taught children's Sunday School for many years at Open Bible Church. Dolly enjoyed building puzzles, doing word search puzzles and watching major league baseball. She was a Minnesota Twins fan at heart.
Surviving are son, Dave Sherrill and his wife, Diane of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Tess and her husband, Quinten Robinson of Storm Lake, Iowa, Angela Sherrill of Sioux City, and Todd Sherrill and his wife, Jamie of Council Bluffs, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Spencer Smith of Sioux City; three sisters, Beverly Burright of Sioux City, Ida Maron of Elk Point, S.D., and Joyce Oiler of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; two sisters; and a brother.
