Donald G. Klingensmith, 81, of Bronson passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westfork Township, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donald was born on Dec. 1, 1933, in rural Salix, Iowa, to George and Helen (Pearson) Klingensmith. He was drafted into the United States Army and was discharged in the spring of 1955.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Meyer on May 18, 1956, in Bronson. She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2013. The couple lived on a farm south of Bronson for 42 years. Donald also lived in Salix and Sioux City. He was a sheet metal worker for Local 37 Union, now Local 3, for more than 50 years before retiring on Dec. 1, 1995.
He enjoyed horses and farming.
Those left to honor his memory include his brother, Edward (Delphine) of Sioux City; sisters, Joan (Arlan) Tomlinson of Moville, Iowa, and Mary Anna Dawdy of Sergeant Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brother, Robert.
