SIOUX CITY -- Donald F. Mann, 84, of Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Sioux City, passed away April 27, 2011, at a care facility in Rock Island.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Donald was born on Feb. 21, 1927, in Sioux City, to Walter and Bertha (Lueders) Mann. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. He later attended Morningside College. He was a lifelong resident of the Siouxland area.
Donald married Mary Jean Paulos on Feb. 15, 1952, in Sioux City. She passed away on Jan. 4, 2009. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. Donald served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 30 years in addition to serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 64. Donald enjoyed family events, picnics, holidays with family, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Candy C. Mann of Houston, Texas; his sons, Gregory Mann and Mary Briggs of Davenport, Iowa, and David and Nancy Mann of Cambridge, Ill.; six granddaughters; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and his goddaughter, Lisa Barker of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
