MOVILLE, Iowa -- Doris E. Braesch, 82, of Moville died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Moville, with the Rev. Steven Stoll of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hinton, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to

Doris was born on Feb. 17, 1928, in Moville, Iowa, to David and Kathryn (Harney) Weaver. She attended Moville High School and later earned her G.E.D. in Sioux City. Doris lived in the Moville area most of her life.
She married Clarence "Pete" Braesch on May 18, 1945, in Le Mars, Iowa. To this marriage, three sons were born. The family lived south of Moville, and raised turkeys from May 1956 to June 1974. Later, she and Pete moved into Moville, where Doris was still currently living. Pete died in November 1980, in Sioux City. Doris was employed at Zenith Corporation for several years and was also a home health aid. She was a caretaker to many people in the Moville area.
She enjoyed working word finder puzzles, reading and watching her "Vikings" football team. She also loved koala bears and collecting John Wayne memorabilia. She was a Christian.
Survivors include two sons, David C. Braesch of Sergeant Bluff, and Roger Braesch and his wife, Lynette of Hinton, Iowa; one granddaughter, Jennifer Parrish and her husband, Michael of Bostwick, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Holestin and Kevin Parrish, both of Bostwick; one brother, Burton Weaver and his wife, Eva of Lake Andes, S.D.; two sisters, Beverly Immekus of Richmond, Va., and Joyce Grant of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and also very special to Doris was the Koebel Family of Moville, and all the "grandkids" and her god daughter, Brandi Greenfelder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Braesch; a grandson, Michael Braesch; a daughter-in-law, Melody Braesch; three brothers, Jack, Keith and Lloyd Weaver; a sister, Cecil Gilbert; and two infant siblings.
Pallbearers will be John Koebel, Dave Koebel, Joe Schwarte and Mike Ramm.
Memorials in Doris' name will be designated at a later date.
