LAWTON, Iowa -- Doris A. Rasmussen, 75, of Lawton passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with interim Elder Lorna Peters officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to

Doris was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Anthon, Iowa, to Walter and Viola (Dicus) Short. She attended school in Anthon and later in Bronson. She resided in Anthon, Correctionville and moved to the Bronson area in 1949, and graduated from Bronson High School in 1952. She had resided in the Lawton-Bronson area since that time.
She married Everett C. Rasmussen on Nov. 28, 1953, at the minister's parsonage in Sioux City. She was a homemaker but also active at the Community Presbyterian Church Lawton, being involved in variety club and as a Sunday school teacher.
Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, traveling and Morningside basketball games.
Survivors include her husband, Everett of Lawton; sons, Roger and David Rasmussen, both of Lawton; a daughter, Barb and Jeff Peterson of North Sioux City; three grandsons, Shawn Peterson, James Rasmussen and Justin Peterson; a great-grandchild, Ella Mae Muellenberg-Peterson; and sisters, Alice VanLaningham, Frances Short, Lois Smith, Deloris Vest and Virginia and Bob Seitzinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Short; and sisters, Phyllis Prather, Helen Washburn and Joyce Bolles.
