MOVILLE, Iowa -- Doris Speke Weaver, 89, of Moville died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Ed Frank, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, one hour prior to memorial services, in Arlington Township Cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Moville.
Doris was born on Jan. 14, 1919, in Arlington Township, Woodbury County, Iowa, to William and Alice (Corfield) Speke. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She graduated from Moville High School in 1937.
She married Dale Hamilton Weaver on May 27, 1945, at E.U.B. Church in Moville. Mr. Weaver died on June 21, 1991, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker and a farm wife and was a lifelong resident of Moville.
She was a member of the Moville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a Farm Bureau member and a Cub Scout leader. She played bridge with the Town & Country Bridge Group for more than 50 years. Doris was a kind and gentle woman, loved by her family.
Survivors include her children, JoEllen and Larry Etler, John and Diane Weaver, Barbara and Daryl Carr and Brian and Debi Weaver, all of Moville; grandchildren, Beth and Matt Thornton, Luke Etler, Ann Weaver, Cassie Weaver, Nicole Weaver, Chase Weaver, Jared Weaver, Bret Weaver and Noelle Weaver; great-grandchildren, Paige Thornton, Claire Thornton, Colton Etler, Kaylinn Etler and Christopher Thompson; a sister, Beryl Martinez of Kingsley, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Lillian Wilson and her husband, Darrell; a brother and his wife, Robert and Miriam Speke; and a brother-in-law, Bill Martinez.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Luke Etler, Chase Weaver, Jared Weaver and Bret Weaver.
