Dorothy L. Buckholtz (Stoltz)

Dorothy L. Buckholtz, 78, of Sioux City died Monday, July 16, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel, with the Rev. Vivian Derochie, hospital chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to service time Thursday.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 24, 1928, in Sioux City, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Potter) Stoltz. She attended East High School.

She married Donald Buckholtz on May 13, 1946, in Sioux City. Mr. Buckholtz died on June 10, 1993, in Sioux City. The family moved to Alaska in the early 1960s and returned to Sioux City in 1971. Dorothy worked for Thallas Flowers greenhouse. She had also operated the Buckholtz Janitorial Service with her husband until his death in 1993.

She was a former member of Evangelical Free Church. Dorothy enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and children. She liked to work in both her flower and vegetable gardens. But, most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, William Buckholtz and his wife, Peggy of Sioux City, Robert Buckholtz and his wife, Ruth of Denison, Iowa and Gary R. Buckholtz of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Richard and Eddie Stoltz.

Pallbearers will be Rod Buckholtz, Ryan Buckholtz, Russ Buckholtz, Bobbie Zeimen, Robin Bohlin, Cory Buckholtz, Jason Buckholtz and Jeremy Buckholtz.
