SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Ruth Burbridge, 88, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Craig A. Collison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour before service time at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born on Aug. 27, 1922, in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Cassie Pearl (Green) Bennett. She graduated from Anthon High School in 1940.
Dorothy married Edmund W. Burbridge on Dec. 28, 1944, in Danbury, Iowa. They farmed in both Iowa and South Dakota. They then moved to Sioux City in 1967. Dorothy then worked in the linen department at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 1982.
Dorothy enjoyed working with flowers and knitting and crocheting.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Jim and his wife, Donna, of Clearwater, Fla., Joni and her husband, Larry Loes, of Mitchell, S.D., Gene and his wife, Annie, of Norco, Calif., and Vince R. Burbridge of Burbank, S.D.; two grandchildren, Tim Loes and his wife, Sheryl, of Mitchell and Michelle Roeder and her husband, Andrew, of Omaha, Neb.; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Adam Loes of Mitchell and Zachary, Nicole, Benjamin and Andrea Roeder of Omaha; a brother, David Bennett; and eight nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Bonnie Steenholdt.
Pallbearers will be Tim Loes, Alex Loes, Austin Loes, Michelle Roeder, Zachary Roeder and Nicole Roeder. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Loes and Benjamin and Andrea Roeder.
