Dorothy Elizabeth Fester (Uhl)

SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Elizabeth Fester, 91, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Casa de Paz in Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel C. Guenther officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com .
Dorothy was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Mapleton, Iowa, to William Jr. and Mary (Flemming) Uhl . She married Harold W. Fester on May 11, 1942, in Mapleton. The couple had a son, Robert. The family lived on a farm near Smithland, Iowa and in 1952 moved to Sioux City. Dorothy worked for Western States Manufacturing for many years before retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her hobbies included embroidery, crocheting, making blankets, pillow cases and dish towels for her grandkids. She enjoyed cooking and loved to make big meals or the entire family
Survivors include her son, Robert and Rosemary Fester of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Gary Fester of Sioux City, Tim and Andrea Fester of Grand Junction, Iowa, Bobbie Jo and Darrin Speichinger of Bailey, Colo., and Kathie Jo and Michael Church of Sioux City; 11 great-grandchildren, Amanda Pierce, Randell "Bubba" Pierce, Jessica Church, Nicole Church, Kelsey Church, Jacob Fester, Brianna Fester, Jamie Jo Fester, Dallas Fester, Katie and Irv Tinker , and Kristie and Josh Wilde, all of Sioux City; four great-great-stepgrandkids, Darrin Tinker, Anthony Tinker, Josh Wilde, Kieara Wilde; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; a sister, Mary Ann Howland of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
