Dorothy A. "Dottie" Klaschen, 61, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, at her residence following a 15-year battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dottie was born on Dec. 31, 1953, in Sioux City, to Stanley and Betty (McClary) Sponder. She graduated from Central High School in 1972.
Dottie and Johnny Klaschen were married on May 24, 1975, in Pierson, Iowa. She was employed for many years with the Sioux City Public School System.
Dottie was a kind and gentle person who loved her family very much. She cherished every moment she had to spend time with her family, children and grandchildren whether it was fun weekends or holidays. She loved animals, the weather, and the children she worked with at East Middle School. She will be lovingly remembered by everyone who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Klaschen; her daughters, Jeni (Ryan) Stille of Dubuque, Iowa, and Sara Tirrel of Tea, Iowa; grandchildren, Andrew, Anna and Aiden Stille, and Aubrey, Finnley and Kennedy Tirrel; a sister, Barbara (Terry) Murkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Ellen Klaschen of Kingsley, Iowa; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, Donald Klaschen.
