Dorothy Marie Klingensmith (Henckel)

MOVILLE, Iowa -- Dorothy Marie Klingensmith, 88, of South Sioux City, formerly of Moville, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville. Dorothy was born March 9, 1923, at Sioux City, the daughter of John and Bessie (Dull) Henckel. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School. Dorothy continued her education at National Business College.
She married E. Paul Klingensmith on July 21, 1941. Together they made their home on the farm east of Moville. Dorothy worked as the Moville City Clerk for 16 years. Paul died July 6, 2010.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its women's club. Dorothy was also a past member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing and was one of the original members of the Meadows Golf Club. She also enjoyed sewing, reading and attending her grandchildren's school and athletic events.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda and Ron Masters of Ankeny, Iowa, Julie and Rob Davis of Moville and Amy and Michael Groth of South Sioux City; one son, Roger and Leah Klingensmith of Moville; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara and Dan Critton of Naperville, Ill., and Lois Reams of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; and two sisters, Bonnie Peterson and Jeannie Critton.
