MOVILLE, Iowa -- Dorothy Schenk, 81, of Moville died Friday, May 1, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m., at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Dorothy was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Helen (McElrath) Logan. She was raised in Moville and graduated from Moville High School. Dorothy received her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She received her masters from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colo.
She married Robert Paul Schenk on Sept. 13, 1947, in Moville. Dorothy taught school in Colorado Springs, Colo., for 24 years. Together, Bob and Dorothy moved back to Moville in 1992.
She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Moville Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Moville; three daughters, Ann-Elizabeth Junk, Jeanne and her husband, Steven Steiner and Laurie Grant, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons and their wives, Michael and Susan Schenk of Colorado Springs, and John and Kristen Schenk of Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Howard and Ila Jeanne Logan and Robert and Carol Logan, all of Moville; and a sister and her husband, Helen and Doc Maxwell of Moville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Charles.
Memorials are preferred to the Moville Community Grocery Store.
