SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Ann Nutt, 84, of South Sioux City died Monday, April 23, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. In accordance with her wishes, the body was cremated. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Dorothy was born on June 6, 1927, in Valparaiso, Neb., to Frank and Frances (Machacek) Stanislav. She graduated high school in Blencoe, Iowa and from Business College in Omaha.
She married Merrill Nutt on Sept. 17, 1947 in Blencoe. Merrill passed away on Aug. 13, 1981. Dorothy was employed with Master Breeders in Onawa, Iowa as a private stenographer and later in Mapleton, Iowa with Rice and Rice Attorneys, Maple Heights Nursing Home and Monona County Public Health Services.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Mapleton, St. Mary's Guild and had been a member of Willow Vale Golf Club and the Mapleton Community Club.
Survivors include four children, Denny and his wife Jaimee of South Sioux City, Merilyn and her husband Kerry Worrell of Sioux City, Sherrill and her husband Paul Van Pelt of Chaska, Minn., and Michael and wife Suzanne of Robins, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, George Stanislav; sister, Adeline Heinse; and granddaughter, Nicole Van Pelt.
