SIOUX CITY | Dorothy J. Stanek, 84, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Countryside Retirement Home.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born on March 27, 1928, in Sioux City, to Holger and Theresa (Teske) Jensen.
She married John Stanek on July 20, 1951, in Sioux City. Dorothy worked at Northwestern Bell, AAA Motor Club, and Pecaut and Co. stockbrokers.
She enjoyed sewing, needlework, traveling, Heisey crystal, playing the slots and most importantly, spending time with her granddaughter and great-granddaughters. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Stanek of Sioux City; a daughter, Theresa and Dennis Golden of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Keri and Dustin Boyle of Sioux City; great-granddaughters, Emmalee and Isabella, both of Sioux City; a sister, Virginia Asmussen of Solon, Iowa; a brother, Bob and Barb Jensen of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Rose Jensen of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews, Cindy and Albert Asmussen of Iowa City, Iowa, Lynn Kroesen and Kay Cook, Rodney and Patty Jensen, Barb and Larry Kobold, and Jim and Jerry Bekish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harold and Warren Jensen.
