Doyle Dewayne Baker, the son of Irvin and Eva (Matney) Baker was born June 8, 1937, in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from East High School.
On June 8, 1958, Doyle was united in marriage with Mildred “Millie” Sandbeck at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. Doyle began working for MidAmerican Energy (formerly IPS) and throughout the years he advanced through the ranks until he became a regional manager, retiring as a gas school trainer. His wife Millie passed away only two days prior on January 2, 2018.
During his career with MidAmerican Energy, Doyle was active in the community, belonging to many organizations. After his retirement he enjoyed weekly golf outings with the MidAmerican retiree golf league. Doyle greatly enjoyed attending various sporting activities with his wife, Millie, including Musketeer Hockey games, dirt track races, and NAIA basketball and volleyball tournaments. Doyle was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending numerous hours outside caring for his garden. Doyle and Millie were passionate Musketeer fans as the couple spent 37 years as season ticket holders. That passion was reciprocated by the Musketeer players and organization in his final days through their overwhelming support.
Doyle is survived by his daughters, Renee (Jim) Reeves of Sioux City, Melissa (Anthony) Holmberg of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Heather Campbell (Joe Brown), Steve (Jenna) Campbell, Brent (Terra) Baker, Jordan and Bently Holmberg; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Don Matney of New Jersey, and his uncle, Marvin Matney of Texas.
