MOVILLE, Iowa -- Duane E. Brosamle, 81, of Moville passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with Pastor Barb Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville. Duane Edward Brosamle was born on Dec. 27, 1927, to Edward and Theresa (Michaelson) Brosamle in Cushing, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Holstein High School with the class of 1945.
On Sept. 1, 1949, Duane and Lenore Ewoldt were married in Sioux City. Duane was a farmer and worked as a bus driver for Woodbury Central Schools for 14 years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing the polka and waltz and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lenore of Moville; daughters, Linda and husband, Michael Arndt of Madison Lake, Minn., and Joelle and husband, Keith Pease of Sioux City; sons, David and wife, Lisa of Moville, Danny and wife, Bonnie of Moville, and Kurt and wife, Pamela of Dow City, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard H. and wife, Marian Brosamle of Holstein, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Joyce Albers and Shirley Ewoldt, both of Holstein, and Doris Murphy of Illinois; and a brother-in-law, Galen Gehrts of Sioux City. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael.
Pallbearers will be Marc Arndt, Travis Arndt, Dustin Brosamle, Jason Pease, Dirk Brosamle and Kyle Brosamle. Honorary pallbearers will be Taunia Arndt, Jesse Pease, Heather Marx, Wendy Ruhrer, Jada Brosamle, Jacob Brosamle, Amos Brosamle, Trisha Healy, Michelle Willer, Jenny Brosamle, Kaitlynn Brosamle, Kortney Brosamle and Kasey Brosamle.
The family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to Hospice of Siouxland for the care given to Duane.
