MOVILLE, Iowa -- Duane "Bud" Carrington, 84, of Moville died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Branch United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Vickie Steffes officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Duane "Bud" was born Dec. 7, 1925, near Correctionville, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Winnie (Spencer) Carrington. He attended country school and graduated from high school in Correctionville. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he continued his agricultural education at Iowa State, then farmed with his father.
He married Ramona Knapp ion Aug. 27, 1950. They made their home on the farm. He retired in 1999 and moved to Moville.
He was a member of Rock Branch United Methodist Church, where he held several offices. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303, had served on the Plymouth County Co-op board, was a Rutland trustee and Farm Bureau member. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, music, dancing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Carrington of Moville; three sons, Ron and Cheryl Carrington of Allentown, Pa., Don and Jule Carrington of Ankeny, Iowa, and Ken Carrington of Anthon, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kate and her husband, Joel Metheny, Maggie, Cory and Kelly Carrington; and a sister, Irene Longval of Whiting, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Winnie Carrington.
