Duane "Dewey" Johnson, 53, of Sioux City, formerly of Lincoln, Neb., passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Valerie Heller of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Roy Duane Johnson was born March 4, 1955, in Sioux City, the son of John and Letha (Riordan) Johnson. He attended East High School in Sioux City. He had spent the last 30 years living in Lincoln, Neb. He started his career at Pizza Hut in Sioux City and worked in various position until his stroke in 2005.
His two children were the most important part of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and liked talking to people.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer a student at Wayne State College; a son, John of Lincoln, Neb.; his mother, Letha of Sioux City; brothers, John of Sioux City and Larry and his wife, Cindy of Sioux City; sisters, Judy and her husband, Dick Winkel of Kansas City, Kan., and Jean Johnson of Des Moines; his former wife, Patricia Fuller of Lincoln, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1985.
