Duane Henry Hopp

KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Duane Henry Hopp, 67, of Kingsley, lifelong Woodbury County resident, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church, 1391 Lee Ave. on County Road L21, rural Correctionville, Iowa, with Pastor Bert Burwell, A.i.M., officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville, Iowa.

Duane was born Sept. 25, 1939, on the family farm in rural Woodbury County to LaVern and Ella (Rock) Hopp. He grew up and attended Arlington Township country school and later graduated from Moville High School in 1957.

He married Anna Louise Young on Jan. 11, 1964, at Davenport, Iowa. Duane farmed for many years and loved to do carpentry work also. He was currently working for Alliance Concrete as a semi truck driver hauling gravel to the plant.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Woodbury County Pork Producers and was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, attending antique tractor and car shows as well as collecting farm toys. Duane loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Kelly and Irv Martin of Moville; two brothers and their wives, Gary and Marcia Hopp of Sioux City and Gene and Linda Hopp of Hollister, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jordan and Ashley Martin; two nieces, Kristine Hopp and Mary Ann and Mike Roberts; three nephews, Eric Hopp, Dennis and Kira Hopp and Mike Hopp; and special friend, Rhonda DeBoer of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern Hopp and Ella A.W. (Hopp) Meissner.
