E. Kathleen Beacom, 81, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Holy Spirit Retirement Community.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Retirement Community Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today, with a parish vigil at 6 p.m., all at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 2320 Outer Drive North.
Kathleen was born on July 6, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Ellen (Brislane) Beacom. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, graduating from Heelan High School. Karthleen worked in the dietary department at Westwood Nursing and Rehab, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Kathleen volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, where she baked for them and donated a mixer. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends, cross stitching, crewel work and reading. Kathleen also liked collecting angels and making cards.
Kathleen is survived by a sister, Virginia Miller of Temecula, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Beacom of Omaha; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Julian, Gerald and Bill Beacom; two sisters, Veronica "Bonnie" Dreves and Anna Marie Laverdure; and three brothers-in-law, Francis Laverdure, Bill Miller and Martin Dreves.
