Moville, Iowa - Earl D. Kizzier, 79, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Moville, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Barb Spaulding officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 5:30 p.m., at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Earl was born on Sept. 10, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Esther (Enselman) Kizzier. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. Earl continued his education at Iowa State College, School of Agriculture.
He married Pat Moore on April 5, 1959. They made their home in Council Bluffs, moving to Primghar for eight years and to Moville in 1969. Earl served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, retiring in 1994.
Earl was an active member and past president of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Past Master, the Scottish Rite Consistory, the Abu Bekr Shrine, where he was a member of the Clown Patrol and an Eastern Star past patron. He was a past president of the Area Education Association, a member of the St. Luke’s Foundation Hospital Board, Moville Senior Housing Board, and part of the founding group and past president of the Moville Area Medical Clinic Board. He was also a member of the Downtown Sioux City Kiwanis, where he was past president, the Meadows Golf Course and the Moville Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Pat of Spirit Lake; son, Douglas and Joyce Kizzier of Emmetsburg, Iowa; daughter, Kari and Mike Mazur of Spirit Lake; son, Eugene and Michelle Kizzier of Maple Grove, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth.
