Earl Schaub, 83, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at a Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Earl was born on March 3, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Leona (Schaub) Saul. He grew up and attended school in Sioux City.
Earl married Geraldine Swain on Feb. 12, 1961, in Elk Point, S.D. They made their home in Sioux City before moving to Chicago in the mid 1960s. While in Chicago, Earl worked in a steel mill. They returned to Sioux City where Earl worked as a cab driver and a dispatcher for Radio Cab. Geraldine died on Jan. 10, 2005.
Earl attended and cheered on the Sioux City Musketeers. He was a big fan and seldom missed a game. He also enjoyed the Cubs, the Bears, archery and bowling.
Survivors include five sons and three daughters, Sandra and Ralph Verrone of Grand Junction, Colo., Mark Calvillo of Sioux City, Joseph and Evelyn Calvillo of Sioux City, Ruth Phipps and fiance, Jim Gatewood of Sioux City, Tony Calvillo of Mesa, Ariz., Thomas and Rhonda Calvillo of Hinton, Iowa, Gloria and Larry Caskey of Sioux City, and Phil and Mary Calvillo of Phoenix, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Allen of Texas; a brother, Buzz Maschke of Des Moines; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine; son, Louis Calvillo Jr.; grandson, Craig Verrone; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Barrett; daughter-in-law, Johni Calvillo; son-in-law, Patrick Phipps; and a sister, Viola.
