Earl Alfred Wolff, 87, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at his residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Earl was born on Nov. 2, 1927, in Sioux City, to Alfred and Irene (Ost) Wolff, the oldest of four boys. He graduated from East High in 1945. Earl served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948, traveling around the world and even crossing the equator.
He married Evelyn Wingert on July 29, 1951, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the service performed by his grandfather. Earl was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. He built and remodeled many homes in his lifetime. Earl and Evelyn lived in the last home he built in Sioux City for 40 years.
He was a kind, good man who was a devout Christian. Earl held a real estate license and had several rental properties. Earl enjoyed gardening and yard work. He was especially proud of his daughters and told Evelyn he loved her daily.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wolff; daughters, Penny Knouf and Linda (William) Arneson; grandchildren, Nicholas Knouf, Eric Arneson, Petrina Suiter, and Toby Arneson; great-granddaughter, Cecilia Arneson; and brothers, Paul Wolff and Vernon Wolff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Robin Knouf; brother, Tom Wolff; and son-in-law, Phillip Knouf.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
