Edna M. Greeny, 95, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Peggy McClain officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Edna was born on Feb. 10, 1920, in Whiting, Iowa, to Albert and Mary (Johnson) Scott.
She was united in marriage to Verdell Greeny in 1940. To this union they had seven children. Edna was a wonderful homemaker and took pride in taking care of her family and home.
She enjoyed embroidering, making quilts, gardening, baking, playing word searches, and watching Cubs baseball. She also enjoyed helping people and was a kind, good-hearted woman who donated to the DAV, ASPCA, and Goodfellow.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Ronald (Patricia) Greeny of Trenton, N.J., Karen Swick of Sioux City, Daniel (Marlene) Greeny of Allan, Neb., Richard (Cheryl) Greeny of El Cajon, Calif., DuWayne Greeny (significant other, Janet) of Sioux City, and Mari Jo Yudka of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Verdell Jr.; two sons-in-law, Archie Swick and Roger Yudka; a granddaughter, Tonya Trayer; three brothers; and two sisters.
