SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Edwin J. "Ed" Dunn, 91, of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Wittrock of St. Michael's Catholic Church of South Sioux City officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Edwin Joseph Dunn was born April 17, 1918, in Sergeant Bluff, to Frank J. and Mary M. (Mulvihill) Dunn. He attended country school hear Albaton, Iowa.

He and Fern Wikstrom were married on Feb. 17, 1940, in Onawa, Iowa. They made their home on a farm east of Climbing Hill, Iowa. After retirement, they spent the winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife, Fern of South Sioux City; a daughter, Lois and her husband, Donald Albertson of South Sioux City; a son, George Dunn and his wife, Virginia of Redwood Falls, Minn.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Bernice Milligan of Brookings, S.D.; brothers-in-law, Bob O'Donnell of Sioux City and Butch Powell of Sioux City; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John; sisters, Frances Luchsinger, Margaret Lines, JoAnn O'Donnell and Pauline Powell; and a brother, Donald Dunn.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tony, Troy, Matt, Mark, Tyler, Samantha Dunn and Brian McKee.
