Edwin L. "Ned" Adams Jr., 88, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Curt Moermond officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Ned was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Sioux City, the son of Edwin L. and Angeline (Hutchins) Adams. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School in 1937. He then graduated from Morningside College in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a first lieutenant in Patton's Army as a artillery officer in France.
On June 8, 1946, he married Doris A. Coe in Sioux City. He operated S.S. Coe Sign Company for many years, serving as its president.
He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. He also was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, several business clubs and he worked with S.C.O.R.E. after he retired. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Sioux City; a son, William C. "Bill" and Marsha Adams of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; two daughters, Joan and Don Swanson of Tucson, Ariz., and Barbara Coe Dallman of Clair, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Bob and Bill Adams, Sarah Swanson, Beth Peterson and Ben Ruisch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Greg Swanson; and two sisters, Mary Virginia Mains and Florence Jane Sepulli.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial had been established for St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
