Elaine (Klasey) Carlson, 88, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at a local hospital.
As per Elaine's wishes, she is being cremated, and the family will hold a private committal service. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Elaine was born Nov. 16, 1926, in South Sioux City, to Fred and Edna (Dixon) Klasey. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1946 and moved to California in 1947. She returned in 1960 and married LeRoy "Bud" Carlson in 1964.
Elaine worked for Sunshine Foods in the meat department for 31 1/2 years until retirement.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Mahr; stepdaughter, Cindy Thayer; stepgrandchildren, Dianna Zinn, Kathie Galaskas and Kenneth Holsworth, all of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Dennis Mahr and Carol Langin, Barbara and Steve Haley, Kathryn Harrington of Columbia, Md., Maureen and Dave Aiken of Lenexa, Kan.; many other nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Ethelyn Klasey of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Ruth Klasey of Whittier, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Thomas and Wayne Klasey.
The family would like to acknowledge the special attention that was given by Jean Lindt and Doug Black at Sunrise Manor and Douglas Draayer, Patty Koll and Cindy Meyer at the Mercy ICU Unit.
