Elizabeth 'Dee Dee' Ann "Dee Dee" Tymkowicz (Collins)

SIOUX CITY -- Elizabeth Ann "Dee Dee" Tymkowicz, 67, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Nativity Catholic Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Steven J. McLoud will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday, with a Confraternity of Christian Mothers rosary at 10:45 a.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Dee Dee was born on Sept. 9, 1944, in Sioux City, the daughter of Wayne and Ernestine (Thomsen) Collins. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1962 and attended Stewart School of Beauty.
On July 30,1965, she married James W. Tymkowicz in Sioux City. She operated a beauty salon out of her home for many years.
She was a member of Nativity parish and volunteered for church activities. She also served as a Eucharistic minister at Mercy Medical Center. Dee Dee volunteered her time at Mid-Step Service and Bargain Center. Her family was a very important part her life and she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed going dancing with her husband and friends at Storm'n Norman's. She was an avid artist who enjoyed oil painting.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Tymkowicz of Sioux City; her mother, Ernestine M. (Thomsen) Collins of Sioux City; two sons, Shane Tymkowicz and his wife, Beth (Fritz) of Sioux City, and Derek Tymkowicz of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Alexandria E. and Samantha K. Tymkowicz, both of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Gerold "Jerry" and Charlotte (Newburn) Collins of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Mary and Larry Ficken of Castle Rock, Colo.; seven nieces and nephews; and her legal guardian, Melvin Hauf of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her father.
