Elizabeth S. Jones, 94, of Climbing Hill, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Whispering Creek Senior Care Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Jones was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Boston, Mass., to Joseph and Caroline (Friedenberg) Ilinitch. She attended school in Boston. After graduating high school, Elizabeth attended New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston where she graduated in 1944. She began working as a registered nurse at New England Baptist Hospital, before moving to La Jolla, Calif., where she continued to be a nurse before she married.
On Sept. 5, 1948, she married Glenn Jones in Cheyenne, Wyo. Glenn and Elizabeth then moved to Ames, Iowa, for one year and then moved to Ft. Collins, Colo. Following their departure from Colorado, they moved to Aiken, S.C., where they lived until 1984 when they moved to rural Woodbury County, Iowa.
Elizabeth loved cooking, reading, bird watching, and was always aware of other people, but she especially loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Holly Springs Bible Fellowship in Hornick, Iowa.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Glenn Jones; her daughters, Dawn Hair, Judy (Mark) Snowden, and Bonnie Shea; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
