Sioux City, IA – Elizabeth A. “Beth” Russell, 73, died Saturday, July 30, 2022, at her residence in Sioux City, IA.
A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 5, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive North, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at

Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Baker, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Doherty) Baker was born October 1, 1948, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1966 Beth went on to receive her nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing and after graduation was employed as a nurse at the hospital.
In 1970, Beth was united in marriage with Fred Russell in Sioux City. She worked as an Oncology nurse for over 25 years before her retirement from June E Nylen Cancer Center in 2006.
Beth’s greatest passion was nursing and providing care and comfort to her patients. Her devotion and empathy for others will be missed by all. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her best friend Susan with whom she had many adventures with. She also enjoyed having coffee and socializing. “Oh, what a day!”
Beth is survived by her children, Kelly (Terry) Ragaller of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Joe (Nancy) Russell of Sioux City, Molly (Charlie) Riley of Moville, IA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Dan (Judy) Baker of California, Rob (Joan) Baker of St. Louis, MO, Mary (Jim) Doyle of Sloan, IA; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and Fred Russell.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the June Nylen Cancer Center or Hospice of Siouxland.
