Elizabeth Theone "Theone" Marbach (Anderson)

SIOUX CITY -- E. Theone Marbach, 91, of Beaverton, Ore., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in Oregon.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Valerie Heller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Theone was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Schaller, Iowa, the daughter of Berthel and Katherine (Galbraith) Anderson. She was raised in Schaller and graduated from Schaller High School in 1934. She moved to Sioux City in 1934.

She married Kenneth C. Marbach on April 4, 1941, in Schaller. He passed away Sept. 8, 2000, in Sioux City. She had worked for several years as an assistant to the registrar at Morningside College. She had lived in Sioux City until 2002, when she moved to Beaverton, Ore., to be closer to her family.

She was a 52 year member of Grace United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter 502 and a 50 year member of the Daughters of the Nile Hathor Temple 38. She was a past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile and a founder and member of the Hathor Patrol. She also was a 15 year member of the P.E.O. in South Sioux City. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Beaverton.

She is survived by a son and his wife, James and Dianne Marbach of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Jeff Montgomery of Beaverton, Ore.; grandsons, Michael, Mark and Steve and his wife, Jacelyn Montgomery, all of Beaverton; a granddaughter, Alexis Marbach of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Quinton and Owen Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Lillian Parkinson.

The family suggests memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR.
