Ellen 'Bobbi' B. Maximona

Ellen "Bobbi" Maximona of Sioux City went to be with her husband and son on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Bobbi was born on Oct. 19, 1929, in Sioux City, the seventh of nine children to Herman and Mathilda (Ecker) Mahnke. Her parents were charter members of Riverside Lutheran Church. She graduated from Central High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage to Peter Maximona on May 28, 1949, in Sioux City. She was a devoted wife to Pete, and a loving mother to her son, Jeff, whom she cherished. Bobbi was employed as an accountant at Sioux Honey for 21 years, and several other companies.
Bobbi was a member of the Carmel Guild and a charter member of Queen of Peace at Trinity Heights. She was also a Cub Scout leader, and bowled for many years in Sioux City while playing in many city, state, and national tournaments. She served on the Sioux City Women’s Bowling board of directors, and held offices in bowling leagues. She enjoyed traveling extensively with family, spending time with family, gardening, and bowling.
Those left to honor her memory include her special nieces, Deborah (Dewaine) Anderson of Sioux City, and their daughters, Brooke (Clint) Craig and children, Madison, Trevor, and Isabella, and Jennifer (Jim) Brown and their daughter, Jaycee, April (Gerry) Moore of Sioux City, and their son, Andrew; nephews, Scott Labane of Sioux City, Jack Mahnke and his daughter, Jamie (Chris) Zyzda of Sioux City; and several other nieces and nephews, John McIntyre, Rod McIntyre, Sandy DeHarty, Cheryl Bolden, and Sue Cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete; son, Jeff Maximona; sisters, Lois Vanderzee, Francis Miller, and Marilyn Phillips; brothers, John "Jack" Mahnke, Donald Mahnke, Charles Mahnke, Gerald Mahnke, and Richard Mahnke; and sister-in-laws, Valentina Labane and Mary Edwards.
The family would like to thank Countryside Retirement Home, Touchstone Living Center, Siouxland Hospice, and Dr. Delna Lee for all of the wonderful care of Bobbi.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that those who remember Ellen and how she lived her life, could best serve her memory by doing an act of kindness for someone.
