Sioux City - Elma M. Foster, 78, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at her residence following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Elma was born on March 16, 1934, in Bloomington, Wis. She grew up and attended school in Bloomington.
In 1952, she married Glen Kaufmann. She resided in Bloomington until 1958, when they moved to Sioux City. In 1964, she married Roland Foster in Sioux City. He passed away in 1980 in Sioux City. Elma enjoyed a variety of careers from being a waitress to housekeeping at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center. Her most important job was being a wife and mother.
She was a member of Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She was a former matron of the Silver Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her children, Louise and Gene Wilson of Henry, S.D., Ron and Fran Kaufmann of Sioux City, Francene and Mike Delier of Sioux City, Bob and Marilyn Kaufmann of Newalla, Okla., and Cindy and John Zeman of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and a brother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Glen Kaufmann and Roland Foster.
