Elsie M. (Moir) Brown 91, of Salix passed away July 6, 2013 at Matney’s Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born on April 27, 1922, in Le Mars, Iowa, to William and Nellie (Wynia) Moir. She attended Sioux County country school. She married Frank Brown in Storm Lake on July 12, 1947.
Music was one of her passions along with dancing and flower gardening. She played the piano in a band called The Big River Band for more than 20 years. She also played in the jam sessions at the South Sioux City Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Brown of South Sioux City; daughters, Sandy Gilligan of Canyon Lake, Texas, Linda Nelson of Sergeant Bluff, Bonnie (Dennis) Brouillette of Salix, and Beverly (Ricardo) Pous-Ojeda of Elkhart, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Moir.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Moir; and infant sister, Dorothy.
