SIOUX CITY -- Ena Philipovich, 92, of Corona, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Graveside services will follow the visitation in Memorial Park Cemetery, with her nephew, the Rev. John Yarosevich of First Christian Church in Mahtomedi, Minn., officiating.
Mrs. Philipovich was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Sioux City, the eldest of three daughters born to Mike and Vera Klasko. She graduated from Central High School.
She married Joseph Philipovich on Sept. 4, 1955. She worked at Swift and Co. and Armour and Co. in Sioux City. The couple then moved to Southgate, Calif., in 1965. Before retiring, she worked in the bookkeeping department of Clougherty Packing Co. in Vernon, Calif.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, her pet birds, playing card games, traveling and hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Dziurawiec of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Helen Benzink and her husband, Lud of Klamath Falls, Ore.; nephews, Robert Dziurawiec, Joseph Yarosevich and John Yarosevich; nieces, Geraldine Saison, Lorraine Hassett, Sharon Chilson, Janice Gedney and Joellen Megan; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1992; her sister, Alice; and her nephew, Michael Welch.
