Erna Wadsworth, 82, of Moville, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant View Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Moville.
Erna Marie (Price) Wadsworth was born Nov. 28, 1930, at Ute, Iowa, to William and Dora (Pedersen) Price. She graduated from Mapleton (Iowa) High School in 1948.
She married Fidell Earl Wadsworth Aug. 9, 1948, in Ute, in the Christian Church. The couple lived in Mapleton and rural Dunlap until 1957. They moved to rural Climbing Hill, Iowa, where they raised their four children, Marla, Carla, Fidell Jr. and Annette. In 1989, they bought a house and moved to Moville for retirement.
Erna worked at Casey's in Moville, Kmart in Sioux City, Pert's Café in Moville, and retired from Wal-Mart in South Sioux City after being there for 13-and-a-half years. While living in the Climbing Hill area, Erna was co-leader with Bessie Haddock of the Grant Go Getters 4-H Club. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center in Moville. Erna was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.
Erna enjoyed sewing, gardening, bowling, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters, Marla (John) Crichton of Moville, and Carla (Jesse) Johnson and Annette (Tom) Torgerson, all of Sioux City; a son, Fidell (Sheryl) Wadsworth Jr. of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Howard, Claude, Roy, Earl and Everett; and four sisters, Vesta, Grace, Edna and Betty.
