WESTFIELD, Iowa -- Ernestine Mary Stowers, 75, of Westfield died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at her residence.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to

Ernestine was born June 27, 1935, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ernest and Luella (Lethgo) Hubert. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Public Schools.
Ernestine married Jack Stowers on Dec. 22, 1967, in Elk Point, S.D. They made their home in rural Westfield. Jack died in September 1999. Ernestine worked at Wincharger for several years.
She raised Arabian horses all her life. She and Jack showed them in many parades and horse shows. She was a founding member of the Merrill Saddle Club and was an assistant horse project leader for the Plymouth County Fair.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Stowers and her special friend, Aaron Moon; two step-grandchildren, Brianna Moon and Mkayla Moon; a brother, Clayton and Lilas Stowers of Sioux City; a sister, Claudette Choma of Stafford Springs, Conn.; nieces; a nephew; other relatives; and friends.
