SIOUX CITY -- Ethel Faye Baldwin, 93, of Sioux City died Sept. 2, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Kingdom Hall on Green Avenue. Elder Noel Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Ethel was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Thornton and Leora Ethel (Campbell) Burley. She was raised on a farm in the Lake City area and graduated from Lake City High School in 1934.
On Oct. 8,1938, she married Floyd Martin Baldwin in Lake City. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1942. Ethel worked as a seamstress out of her home for many years. She was doing sewing for the family until just two years ago when her eyesight wouldn't let her continue.
Ethel was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Bible study and sharing her beliefs about God's Kingdom with others was a very important part of her life for the past 70 years. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Floyd died on Feb. 8, 2001, in Sioux City.
She is survived by her children, Larry Lee of Sioux City, Sherry Diane and Ron Hogan of Sioux City, Janis JoAnn and Jim Peckham of Urbandale, Iowa, Kenneth Martin and Jeannie of Glendale, Ariz., and Connie Faye and Dan Little of Creston, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Knowles of San Francisco, Calif., and Vivian Hodges of Lake City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Blanche, Merle and Bernice; two brothers, Glenn and Loren; and a grandson, Dennis J. Hogan.
