Eugenia May Webb, 91, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Eugenia was born on July 30, 1924, in Hollywood, Calif., to Rufus and May (Bryant) Bond. She graduated from Santa Ana High and then from Occidental College in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Morgan C. Webb on July 16, 1944, in Santa Ana, Calif. He preceded her in death in 2000. The couple had lived in Santa Cruz County in California and in Lincoln, Neb., for 14 years. They later moved to Spokane, Wash., for several years before moving to Sioux City in 1965. She worked as an adult basic education instructor at Western Iowa Tech Community College for more than 20 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Job's Daughters in California, while in college and was in Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity at Occidental College. Eugenia was also a Girl Scout Troop leader when her children were growing up. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was elected the first woman elder and was moderator of Church Presbyterian Women. She later became a member at Third Presbyterian Church, where she was active for many years as a circle member and leader, Sunday School teacher, deaconess, and handbell choir director.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Ellen (Brigg) Franklin of Vancouver, Wash., Marilyn (Rev. John) Hagberg of Sioux City, Marjorie (Peter) Burrowes of Denver, Colo., the Rev. Janet (Rev. C.M.) Ruark of Reedsburg, Wis., Morgan Carl (Amy) Webb of Le Mars, Iowa, and Alan Webb of Sioux City; her grandchildren, Kameron (Joanne) Franklin, Brielyn Franklin-Akins, Erik Hagberg, Anne (Craig) Winter, Steven (Emily) Masters, Heather (Danny) McLin, C. Michael (Julia) Ruark Jr., Courtney (Phil) Coghill, Jessica Webb, Jeremy Webb, Christopher Webb, Aidan Webb, Aaron Webb, Andrew Mulligan, and Alex Webb; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah McLin, Kaleb Morgan Franklin, Madeline Franklin, Joshua Franklin, Kaylyn Winter, Klara Winter, Jillian Coghill, David Coghill.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
