Eunice Irene Owens (Johnson)

SIOUX CITY -- Eunice Irene Owens, 83, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Eunice Irene Owens was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Lawton, Iowa, the daughter of Ludwig and Mabel (Hedlund) Johnson. Upon the death of her father in 1936, her family moved to Sioux City.
She married Hershel Leland Owens on April 17, 1949. They farmed in the Sioux City area including the last 27 years in Moville, Iowa. They resided in Sioux City after retiring in 1988.
Eunice was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Lorl Circle, Quilting and weekly Bible studies. She belonged to the VASA (Scandinavian group). She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include Dianne and her husband, John Becker of Le Mars, Iowa, Brian and his wife, Brenda Owens of Sergeant Bluff, James "Jim" and his wife, Shelly Owens of Colony, Texas, and Thomas "Tom" and his wife, Anne Owens of Ankeny, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, "Jon" Aaron and his wife, Tawnya Becker, Justin and his wife, Rochelle Becker, Corey and his wife, Amanda Becker, Nicole Owens, Sean Owens, Brandon Miller, Casey Guthals, Kayla Guthals, Madison Owens, Zachary Owens and Eric Owens; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Hegg; a brother-in-law, Ralph Owens; sisters-in-law, Lavina Iverson, Geri Harris, Marie Pickens, Kena Mae Owens, and Maxine Owens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel in 1995; twin sons, Mark and Mathew; her parents; a brother, Eldon; several brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.
Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
