Eva May Lalumendre-Craig, 85, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Mark Reed officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Eva was born on March 31, 1927, in Bronson, Iowa, to William and Blanche (Hair) Lalumendre. She grew up on the family farm. Eva was a graduate of Sergeant Bluff High School. She worked for Wincharger, did over-the-road trucking, farmed, raised flowers for Sioux City florists, and worked at several Sioux City truck stops waiting tables. She later started her own house-cleaning business in Sioux City. During this time she raised her four children.
Her hobbies included playing games, painting pictures and dancing. She especially loved to square dance.
Survivors include her son, Ron and Betty Heyl of Sioux City; daughters, Georgia Risley and her special friend, Mel Broer of Sioux City, Thelma and Mark Reed of Sioux City, and Treasa Snider and her special friend, Ron Jurchen of Sergeant Bluff; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris and Leon Nelson of San Antonio, Texas, and Bertha Reed of Warrensburg, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Lalumendre of Sergeant Bluff.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her parents; an infant great-granddaughter; a sister; and a brother.
