Eva Marie Meyer, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Ryan Christenson of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eva was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Sioux City, the daughter of Frederick and Grace (Collins) Gagnon. She was raised in Sioux City, attending schools here through Central High School. Except for a few years in Texas when her husband was in the military, she had lived in Sioux City the rest of her life. She had worked for many, many years at Bush Cleaners.
She married James R. Meyer on May 25, 1941, in Houston, Texas. He died March 15, 2003.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed all types of sewing and needle work.
She is survived by two brothers, Kenny and Aggie Gagnon of Sioux City and Sly and Mary Jane Gagnon of Correctionville, Iowa; two sisters, Georgie and Al Huhnerhopf of Omaha and Bernice and Duane Clifton of Westfield, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ruth Gagnon and Mary Koenig; and two brothers, Thomas Gagnon and Fredrick Gagnon.
