Evelyn Marie Lundquist

Evelyn Marie Lundquist, a loving mother and grandmother, and long-time employee with Kmart, died April 23rd, 2023, at Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City, IA, with her family by her side. She was 72 years young.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28th, 2023, at Christy Smith Funeral Home at 10:30 am, 1801 Morningside Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Evelyn Marie Lundquist was born on October 22nd, 1950, in Sioux City, IA to Julian and Dorothy (Barrett) Elgert. She was the fourth child out of six children. Fern (Dick) Mace of Sioux City, IA, Eric Elgert of Ohio, Barb (Roger) McWilliams, Steve Elgert of Sioux City, IA, and Bruce Elgert of Sioux City, IA. She attended Heelan High School where she met her first husband Patrick Burke and had her two children Brian and Julie Burke. She was united in marriage to Darrell Jo Lundquist on November 4th, 1989, in Elk Point, SD. Evelyn has two wonderful grandchild Brandon and Samantha Burke. She worked at Kmart for twenty plus years. She worked various positions in the store, eventually becoming a pharmacy tech. Evelyn was regularly active in her children and grandchildren's lives. She would take them to numerous school events and other activities. In her years of retirement, she would spend most of her time watching over her grandchildren and going on her trips with her husband. Her favorite past times were going on family trips and going shopping with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law. Evelyn also had numerous pets over the years and loved them dearly Sammy, Yuki, Boomie, and Moses. Evelyn was a highly active member in her church community at Westlawn Presbyterian Church.

Evelyn will be missed by her loving husband Darrell, her son Brian Burke, her daughter Julie Burke, her grandson Brandon Burke and his significant other Amber Donahue, Her granddaughter Samantha Burke, Sister Fern (Dick), Sister Barb (Roger), brother Eric, and many cousins and other family members. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Steve and Bruce.
