Everett C. Rasmussen, 85, of Lawton passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Cynthia Ripperger officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Everett was born on Nov. 12, 1929, in Sioux City, to Carl and Mildred (Bartels) Rasmussen. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed in Korea.
Everett was united in marriage to Doris Short on Nov. 28, 1953. They made their life in Lawton. She preceded him in death in 2008.
Everett was a hardworking farmer who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and the American Legion.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Barb (Jeff) Peterson of North Sioux City, and David Rasmussen of Lawton; grandchildren, Shawn (Jewell) Peterson, Justin Peterson, and James Rasmussen; great-grandchildren, Ella Rae, Irelynn Claire, and Ivy Jude Peterson; sisters, Deon Schellinger, Evelyn Bressler, and Colleen Kamm; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; and son, Roger.
