F. Joseph Carpenter, 72, of Sioux City died on Monday, June 30, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery at Jackson , Neb. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Joe was born on Sept. 28, 1941 in Sioux City , Iowa . He was the son of Francis and Louise (Brady) Carpenter. Joe attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and graduated from Heelan High School in 1960. He served in the United States Air Force. After the service, he lived in California for a short while before returning to Sioux City .
Joe worked as a cameraman at K.C.A.U and K.M.E.G. television stations in Sioux City for several years. He also worked in the camera department at Sears and Sportsman’s.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. One thing he enjoyed doing was traveling the full length of Old Route 66. Joe enjoyed the outdoors, taking pictures and doing yard work.
He is survived by three sisters and a brother, Mary Louise and Jerry Owings of Sioux City , David and Darlene Carpenter of Green Valley , Ariz. , and Patty Youngstrom of Milford , Iowa ; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Lawrence.
