Sioux City - Frances "Maxine" Lammers, 77, of Sioux City died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at her daughter's residence due to breast cancer.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Frances "Maxine" Lammers was born on Aug. 2, 1935, in Sioux City, to Harold and Frances (Hansel) Hamlow.
She married Fred Lammers on July 18, 1953. She was employed as a manager at Horizon Restaurant for 18 years. She also worked at Sunshine Grocery Store for many years.
Maxine loved doing crafts and getting others involved in line dancing. She volunteered at Akron, Iowa, and Sioux City schools, teaching children to read. Maxine was a senior companion for Siouxland Aging.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Lammers and Dan Rodriguez, and Linda and Dan Montag; sons, Marvin and Ruth Lammers, and Michael Lammers; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kaye Lau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Jim Hamlow.
