Farrell Wayne Wright, 83, of Moville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. The Rev. Mark Stoll and Monsignor Roger Augustine will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Farrell was born on July 4, 1932, on a farm three and a half miles northeast of Moville. He was the son of Clare and Minnie (Jacobsen) Wright. He graduated from Moville High School in 1950 and then attended the University of Iowa for two years. On June 17, 1953, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., before leaving for Germany on May 17, 1954. He returned from Germany in 1955.
On Nov. 19, 1958, he married Colette Loutsch in Remsen, Iowa. The couple built their home one mile east of Moville, where he farmed both there and at his parents' place. Farming was a big part of his life. Even in his final days, he would check the cattle morning, noon, and night. Farrell worked for Curry Seed Company in Elk Point, S.D., selling seed corn to farmers across northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota for more than 35 years.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many activities.
He is survived by his wife, Colette of Moville; two sons, Randy and his wife, Pat of Moville, and their four sons, Landon and fiancee, Jamie of Sioux City, Michael, James, and Matthew of Moville, and Greg and his wife, Kim of Orange City, Iowa, and their four children, Ashley of Alton, Iowa, Keely and her husband, Brandon Wright-Ogren of Moscow, Idaho, and Zachary and Austin of Orange City; two daughters, Susanne and her husband, Kirk Lubbers and their two children, Nathan and Caleb of Moville, and Kimberly and her husband, Brent Brown and their children, Taylor, Addison, Carter, and Molly of Sergeant Bluff; and several brothers–in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Garry; Colette's parents; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
