South Sioux City - Fern M. Dunn, 91, of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at her residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to

Fern was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in rural Bronson, Iowa, to Axel and Bessie (Day) Wikstorm. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1939.
She was united in marriage to Edwin Dunn on Feb. 17, 1940, in Whiting, Iowa. They enjoyed 69 years together. He preceded her in death in June 2009. Fern lived east of Climbing Hill, Iowa, for 50 years and then moved to South Sioux City. She worked as an LPN for Billy Sunday Retirement Home for 15 years.
Fern enjoyed her Bible studies and her Christian friends. She was a member of Climbing Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and went to Rio Grand Valley, Texas, for 21 years. She enjoyed shuffleboard and had won many trophies. Fern and Edwin would attend country jams music festivals.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Lois Ann (Donald) Albertson of South Sioux City; son, George Joseph (Virginia) Dunn of Redwood Falls, Minn.; three grandchildren, Kim (Brian) McKee, Tony (Michelle) Dunn, and Troy (Marilyn) Dunn; five great-grandchildren, Chandra Dicus, Matthew, Mark, Tyler, and Samantha Dunn; a great-great-grandchild, Tucker Wingert; two brothers-in-law, Bob O’Donnell, and Jim Powell; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, John; brothers, Joe A., Leonard, Paul, Alfred, and Glenn Wikstrom; and sisters, Charlotte Johnson and Velma Welty.
