Florence L. Davis, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel Christy Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Florence was born June 9, 1940, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Olive (Stratton) Burgess. She attended Onawa (Iowa) High School and the University of Northern Iowa.
She married Carl Davis.
Florence worked for Larson Printing for 32 years, and at the Sioux City Auditorium for 28 years. She served as a lieutenant with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets for eight years.
Her hobbies included bowling, bingo, card games and crocheting blankets for her family.
Survivors include her children, Charles (Jannette) Davis of Port Orchard, Wash., Becky (Randy) Strong of Jefferson, S.D., Russel (Kristin) Davis of Castro Valley, Calif., Patrick Davis of Sioux City, and Julia (Matthew) Hooper of Aloha, Ore.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl.
